A note on why this site exists
I have written a lot of things that no longer exist. Not deleted, exactly. Just buried under four years of feed, findable only if you already knew it was there and remembered roughly when.
That is a bad deal. The work of thinking something through is the expensive part. Publishing it somewhere it decays in a week is throwing most of that away.
So this is the other approach. One place, on a domain I own, where things accumulate instead of scroll past.
Three things will live here:
- A quarterly read on power and compute. Where the electrons and the FLOPs are actually going, with numbers.
- Notes from the work. Deep tech runs on longer clocks than software, and almost nobody writes about what that does to a company.
- Whatever I am reading, with one line on why.
The bar for publishing here is lower than it should probably be. I would rather post something half-formed and be argued with than sit on a draft for a year.
The strongest opinions I hold are the ones I will most enjoy walking back.
If something here is wrong, tell me. That is most of the point.
